Aldostools has released an update to his RetroXMB Creator Tool, the latest changes bring new core options, bug fixes, and direct DDS file support.

To quote:

About: RetroXMB Creator
This tool allows to create shortcuts of your ROMS on the XMB, with custom images and manuals in DDS format.

Requires to have installed RetroArch 1.0.0.2 on the PS3.

Optionally you can use this addon RetroArch 1.0.0.2 (RetroXMB Edition) to retain the compatibility in your RetroXMB packages, if RetroArch gets a future update. Requires to have RetroArch installed.

Thanks to Themaister/TwinAphex for RetroArch, STLcardsWS for the template examples. Floris van den Berg for FreeImage.dll, NVIDIA Corporation for the free Legacy Texture Tools.
Changelogs:

v1.3.1
I just fixed a regression introduced in 1.3. It should be fixed in version 1.3.1

v1.3

Added a new Core Options window (press F2 to access it)
Changed the aspect_ratio_index from “22″ to “0″ when Aspect Ratio is 4:3

v1.24

Added an experimental conversion method using the parameters: -rel_scale 0.6, 0.6 -24 dxt1c
If the images are already in DDS format, the program will use them, instead of try to do the conversion.(it’s not the best approach, but at least the images will have the proper size if you provide them already converted)

v1.23
Added a list of variables from the text file viewable NVDXT_parameters.
Added a new function to set the parameters NVDXT pressing the F2 key from the window RetroXMB Manual Menu.
Added display of the size of the image that will be shown at the top of the application next to the title.

v1.22
Rom location added to PARAM.HIP automatically. (PARAM.HIP txt contents is viewable from XMB by highlighting the rom and pressing to access side-bar menu and select “Update Histroy”

v1.20

Now can create manuals in .DDS format. Just drag & drop the images in .jpg, .png, .bmp, .tif or .dds on the Retro XMB Manual window, hit MANUAL button and then create the PKG.

Changelog:

IRISMAN 2.93-9: [MAR/17/14]

Please report back if I have to revert the option to the previous default: ShowPIC1 = 1

IRISMAN v2.93-8: [MAR/11/14]

*n0pEdrm* Convert Paid PSN to Licence Free

Today i was priviliged to test the first ever PSN game converted from Paid PSN (requires .rap) to Licence Free. (if i am wrong about this please tell me)

Some amazing work by @zecoxao & @Ada Love Lace has made this possible. Oh and of course me for having such fabulous friends to work with.

zecoxao has written a Tutorial for all you lucky people.

Tools you’ll need:

ps3tools by aldostools. specifically:
1. edat tool gui
2. scetool(gui)

and psnstuff by loosers
Steps:

1. Fetch your favourite psn game and correspondent rap from psnstuff
2. extract the pkg and get the edat(s) and the eboot.bin from it (if there is one)
3. using edat tool gui, decrypt the edat(s) with the respective rap and reencrypt it(them) with devklic -npdrm1 (free klic)
4. using scetool gui, and with the rap properly placed in raps folder, decrypt the eboot of the game.
5. reencrypt it with this command (for 4.xx cfw):

Code:
scetool.exe -v –sce-type=SELF –compress-data=TRUE –skip-sections=TRUE –key-revision=10 –self-auth-id=1010000001000003 –self-add-shdrs=TRUE –self-vendor-id=01000002 –self-type=NPDRM –self-app-version=0001000000000000 –self-fw-version=0003006000000000 –np-license-type=FREE –np-content-id=YOURCID –np-app-type=EXEC –np-real-fname=EBOOT.BIN –encrypt EBOOT.ELF EBOOT.BIN

Where YOURCID is the game’s content id.

6. install the game pkg ONLY and test if it gives you an error when you try to run it of activation

7. replace the eboot and the edat(s) with the ones on the game.

8. run the game again. it should now work without problems.

Note that this may not work in some games. please test it in all the types of psn activated content to know which ones work and which ones don’t. a compatibility list may be required for this.

PS3 File Splitter 1.3
———————
Splits files larger than 4GB to fit in USB drives formatted with FAT32. It also join splitted files. Splits files can be any specified size.
Note: GiB = 2^30, GB=10^9, MiB=2^20, MB=10^6, KiB=2^10, KB=10^3

PS3RIP 1.2.1
————
It’s a tool that should help you gain some space on your external HDD, removing unnecessary files.
It actually moves the files to a RIPPED folder in the root of the disk and replace the file with a 0 byte file.

VERY IMPORTANT: You should verify your game (play it!) before delete any file permanently!!

+The PS3RIP includes the patterns for ripping almost all languages, except English!!

Initial release excluded English & Spanish. This release excludes English only, but allows to exclude other languages.

IMPORTANT: Review the patterns and comment or remove the lines for the languages that you want to keep.

(for ripping files stored in your PS3 use my PS3 FTP Client tool)

PS3_DISC.SFB edit 1.1
———————
It’s a quick way to edit the title id of PS3_DISC.SFB.

Create PS3_EXTRA 1.1
——————–
This tool scans for the PKG, MP4 and P3T files copied to each game folder, its PS3_UPDATE folder, PKGDIR or PS3_CONTENT,
and store them under a PS3_EXTRA structure.

When a game is mounted with multiMAN, there will be 2 BD icons on the XMB:
one disc for the game itself and another with PKGs, MP4 and P3T.

It should make it easier to install the game patches, DLC, fixes, and related videos,
due they will be listed in a neat menu like the one used by “PStore news” (big squares of 486×405 pixels).

How to use:
———–
1) First put the pkg’s at the root of your game folder (eg: BLES00000).
2) Run Create_PS3_EXTRA.exe
3) Click the browse button in the top right corner […]
4) Select the “GAMES” folder that contains the games with the pkg’s eg: x:GAMEZ and then click the OK button
5) Now tick or untick the folders you want or don’t want the app to process
6) Click the Start button
7) Close the program
8) Open the folder eg: BLES00000 folder
9) Now your folder should contain a folder called PS3_EXTRA
10) All the pkg’s should have automatically been renamed and moved to the PS3_EXTRA folder
11) Launch the game using multiMAN
12) On the xmb menu you should now see 2 disc icon’s. The top disc icon is the actual game, The bottom disc icon is the dlc/update pkg’s.
13) Click on the bottom disc icon to see and install the dlc/updates

Changes in 1.1:
+Create_PS3_EXTRA now can find PKG files in PS3_CONTENT and PKGDIR folders, and move them to the PS3_EXTRA folder.
+The PS3_CONTENT and PKGDIR folders are renamed to avoid conflicts with the PS3_EXTRA structure.
!Fixed package “size” issue for PKG files >4GB
!Due a typo in the code it was not moving the P3T files to PS3_EXTRA. Fixed.

renam 1.0
———
This tool, if copied to the GAMES or GAMEZ folder, will rename the games sub-folders
from the default “BLUS0000-[Title]” format to “Title [BLUS0000]“.

This name format should make it easier to find the games using Explorer.

Just copy the renam.exe to the x:GAMES (or x:GAMEZ) folder and rut it.

(Do not expect any GUI. It will rename the folders and exit)

All these tools are Win32 and require the VB5 runtime DLL.
XP users should have this already installed (if not, download & install the DLL).

Download the VB5 Runtime Modules from:

That’s all for now :)

[Release] Andbey0nd *genGP3* Unleash more power of your DEX.

Andbey0nd released along with aldostools this new App very useful to *power up* your DEX converted PS3. ;)

To quote:

Well we are now in the month of September, after having a blast of ‘scene’ fire during August, so what better way to start off the new month, by releasing another great ‘little utility’ for all those that converted their PS3 consoles over to DEX mode.

This one is from scene developer ‘andbey0nd’ along with help from aldostools, and makes DEX machines even more useful as you can now use PS3 Generator without the need of setting up all the those weird confusing options, so even noobies now can transfer games like ‘Sleeping Dogs’ over to your USB HDD that has been re-formatted for DEX-only usage.

Here is the ‘readme’ from the little utility called genGP3:

genGP3

Usage: genGP3.exe GAME_FOLDER [output.gp3]
Example: genGP3.exe x:GAMESFUNNY_GAMEPS3_GAME

or

Drag and drop your game PS3_GAME folder to genGP3.exe

Use command prompt or drag & drop a PS3 game folder to genGP3.exe
It will create a .gp3 XML project file for PS3 Generator Tools
Use Generator tools to create a MasterDisc or BDEMU image (iso/emu)

Here is example output of the app when PS3_GAME folder of ‘Sleeping Dogs’ was drag&dropped to ‘genPS3.exe’:

Gathering data for [BLES01661 – Sleeping Dogs]…
Project data size: 7.2 GB
Please wait…
Done!

Project written to: H:GAMESBLES01661-[Sleeping Dogs]BLES01661.gp3
In most cases, it only takes about 1 to 2 seconds to complete the operation, you then use this file in ‘PS3 Generator’.

Remember still only newer games which have ‘retail updates’ on the Sony servers can be played on DEX, this tool just makes using PS3 Generator easier. — Enjoy

Update: (Tip from aldostools) thanks to @MARA87

TIP:

1. Extract the rar to C:genGP3 (it should be that path!!!)
2. Create a new text file with the following content and save it as “Associate genGP3 to Folders.reg”

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTDirectoryshellGenerate PS3Gen Project…]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTDirectoryshellGenerate PS3Gen Project…command]
@=””C:genGP3genGP3.exe” “%1″”

3. Double click on “Associate genGP3 to Folders.reg”

Now you will be able to create the .gp3 file in 1 second just right-clicking on the PS3_GAME folder ;)

To remove the association, create a text file with the following content and save it as “Associate genGP3.reg” and double click on it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
