A Limited Edition Console For The Brits

UPDATE: (5/2/12) The Union Jack console has been announced by Microsoft. All the following info is correct.

It’s time for another console release by Microsoft. If you passed on the Stars Wars Kinect console, take a gander at this.

Amazon UK posted a product page of the new console bundle going by the name of “Union Jack Celebration Pack”. Other than that rhyming, it’s the Limited Edition 4GB White Xbox with skins for the console itself, controller and Kinect sensor. Along with that is Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports and a 3 month subscription to the Xbox Live service.

Amazon indicated that Microsoft will release the console for sale on May 25th. It’ll run you £249.99. Is it worth it? From a gamer’s point of view, it is if you don’t already have a Xbox console or just want it for its looks. For those who are critical and pay attention to every bit of detail, it’s not as it’s a skin and not an actual scheme. It does look pretty slick though. On the hacker side of things, not worth it as it’s going to come with an unhackable drive.

With another month comes another installment of Games of the Month, the sometimes-monthly rundown of games that are coming for the upcoming month!

With May, we’ve got a somewhat exciting line-up. Mario makes his sports debut on the 3DS with Mario Tennis Open, Resistance brings the first FPS game to the Vita in Burning Skies, May Payne 3 brings some maximum pain, Tom Clancy puts his name on yet another Ghost Recon game in Future Soldier, Capcom’s mash-up Action RPG Dragon’s Dogma makes a sneak appearance, Starhawk stars on the Playstation 3, and the king of dungeon crawlers, Diablo, makes its devilish return in Diablo III.

One of the most awesome aspects of Bethesda games on the PC, is the ability to add your own personal modifications, on games consoles, it isn’t as easy nor is it practical as you need to have a modded console to add the files needed, but that hasn’t stopped DEREKTROTTER releasing his own awesome mods for the PS3 version of Skyrim.

Well due to a member being a complete ignorant asshole, it has come to my attention, that these mods were NOT created by DEREKTROTTER, but rather he worked out how to get them working on the PS3 and added his own small modifications to them:

The original PC Version of Conjuration Madness:

Settings Editor GUI v1.6

Settings Editor GUI, made by JoostinOnline and stfour, has been updated to version 1.6. You can use this Wii application in conjunction with postLoader, or as a standard homebrew app for changing several facets of your Wii’s system, such as screen resolution, aspect ratio, sensor bar position, and internet settings. See the change log for what’s new in this edition, and check out the discussion link below for the off-site download, and more information about this project’s progress.

    v1.6 (04/28/12)
  • It now uses truetype font instead of bitmap font.
  • You can use your own font with a theme, just put font.ttf in “/ploader/theme/” or “/ploader/SE_theme/”
  • I finally updated the icon. It’s much nicer than the old one.
  • grlib/grrlib has been updated.
  • Pressing HOME now exits without saving.
  • Minor code cleanup

    v1.5 (03/16/12)

  • Updated to work with new motion+ remotes.
  • There is a “Back” button included in the save prompt screen in case you accidentally select Exit to Internet Settings.
  • If Priiloader’s “Autoboot” or “Return to” settings aren’t “System Menu”, Exit to Internet Settings will take you to the System Menu.

TX’s RGH For Jaspers Fixed

Noticed that your Jasper console isn’t really working with Team Xecuter’s RGH v2? They have a fix for that.

It was discovered that certain Jasper configs used would allow the console to boot to Xell. However, it would not boot to the dashboard, resulting in an unusable console, so to speak. The problem lied in the team’s Xebuild patches. A new version of the RGH code has been pushed to address this issue with the Jasper consoles.

You can grab the updated release for both revisions of the CoolRunner below. Download it, flash it and be on your merry way. Don’t forget to report any problems that you may have with your install, on the TX forums. Get help and be able to help others in the process.

[RUMOR] PS3 Blu-Ray Drive Emulation

Yesterday a Dutch site posted information on Blu Ray Drive emulation, stating that the PCB has been cracked, here is badly translated quote from the source:

No hacking, no flashing, no modding .

Emulation is the future. A team is currently working on a new hack for the Playstation3.

The blueray player, Sony’s PCB has been cracked and costs can thus be gekloont. The team probably Wasabi or Wiikey team is currently working on this for the board to connect to an external HDD. This can be downloaded games played as Wasabi360 and Xkey for the Xbox360.

A major retailer in China has also indicated that this year is released.

Showtime v3.5.172-gd6cd3d0 Released (Memory Issues fixes)

This is another attempt to fix the out of memory issues that has
been plauging Showtime for quite some while.
So far it looks much better than when using jemalloc
